Pastor Ovella Davis a native Detroiter, is the founder and visionary for the United Communities of America. Since 2010, she has relentlessly served the community by creating awareness to the power of restraint, forgiveness, and positive change. She has implemented her peace initiatives in schools, churches, prisons and the countless lives of both perpetrator and victims. She has been awarded numerous awards recognizing her efforts to create safer communities. Her most cherished is the Fanny Lou Hamer Community Award by the NAACP. She has also attained 10 Proclamation from Mayors. Each Mayor and City Council have officially declared the 22nd day of every month as The City Wide Day of Peace and Healing-A No Violence Day in their perspective cities. Detroit, Southfield, Ecorse, Hamtramck, Romulus, River Rouge, Jackson, Inkster, Westland, Dearborn Heights all declare and support this initiative.
Under her leadership, many achievements have been wrought. Among the most noted was Thou Shall Not Kill Motorcades. These Historic events called on funeral homes and citizens to unite citywide in a visual protest against violence. On January 22, 2012 over 43 hearse lined the streets of Detroit displaying God Said Thou Shall Not Kill car magnets on the sides of each hearse. In May, 2016 the event was repeated with over 500 vehicles including Detroit Police and Wayne County escorts traveling across the city declaring the message Thou Shall Not Kill.
The Vision against violence was adopted and supported by UAW Region 1A,and Director Rory Gamble, where 50 local buses displayed the City Wide Day of Peace and Healing message across the city. Her vision is to create awareness to every sector of society that they would observe and honor the 22nd day, and make it a day of peace and healing.
She is a mother of 3. She is also the Senior Pastor and Spiritual Life Coach at Always in Jesus Presence Ministries. She is a radio personality, Counselor, Instructor, and accomplished B3 Organist. Her Passion is for God and his people. Her Quest in life is to know God, and make Him known.
